These deliciously-summery melon appetizers are brought to you by my favorite grocery store – Harmons! You’ll want to catch their melon sale coming up this week!!

dominate the fancy appetizer game

There’s an outdoor summer party. Maybe it’s a backyard BBQ, a goodbye party, or even a wedding. And you have to bring the appetizers. I used to dread that assignment. Pictures of appetizers always looked so perfect, but so complicated! I figured that I would have to spend hours making an appetizer that hopefully looked good and even more, hopefully tasted amazing. Guess what? These melon appetizers are totally fancy looking and totally easy. Even you can make them! Pinky promise.

Summery Melon Appetizers

all in simplicity

Each of these three melon appetizer combinations has only 2 ingredients. Yes, that’s it! You never knew a “fancy” appetizer could have so few ingredients did you? That’s also what makes them so delicious. Fresh juicy melon paired with a mozz cheese ball, your favorite salami, and/or cinnamon. Like really, does it get any better? Fresh. Simple. Delicious. Fancy.

Delicious Summer Melon Appetizers

totally and completely customizable

Everyone has different opinions and different food likes/dislikes. Hate cantaloupe? Don’t use it! Like prosciutto over salami? Then by all means, use prosciutto! Do long skewers fit your party better than short bite sized skewers? Go ahead, stack those skewers up with as much melon as possible. You can follow this recipe exactly, or you can play around with your own flavor combinations. Don’t be nervous – you really can’t mess up!

make ahead <– the best type of dish

To go along with the ease of these simple melon appetizers – they are also make ahead friendly! You can ball the water melon when you have a chance, put them in bags or containers and stick them right in the fridge. Then, when you have a few more minutes, you can pull out those melon balls and start skewering them! You will be able to rest easy with plenty of time to get ready for the party when you know these fancy melon appetizers and completed and just hanging out in your fridge waiting for their big debut.

oh my melon!

We always hear about the usual melons: watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew. But did you know there are SO MANY more varieties sitting in your Harmons Grocery Store?! This week you have to try them. Head over to the Melon Mania Sale going on July 13-16! There will be melons like: Juan Canary, Casaba, Crenshaw, Galia, Hami, Lemon Drop, Orange Flesh Honeydew, Persian, and Santa Claus. Don’t have a clue what any of those are? Just eeny-meeny-miny-mo it and pick one to try. Or, the nice produce staff will help explain the flavors to you. I picked a lemon drop melon this week and loved it! It was like honeydew (my favorite), but a little bit more lemony. If you love trying new things, you won’t want to miss this! Happy summer appetizer-ing!
