How To Make Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp flour maybe more
  • 1 cup water maybe more
  • Drippings/juices from the pan that roasted your meat
  • 1/2 tsp salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Step 1: Combine the flour and water in a closable container, shake and set aside.
  • -Shake like crazy! You don’t want any chunks of flour, you want it very smooth.
  • -Protein shaker bottles work very well for this!
  • Step 2: Strain out the drippings from your pan (meaning take out any chunks of meat or veggies in there), and simmer in a large skillet over low heat.
  • Step 3: Add the flour mixture to the simmering liquid and whisk until smooth.
  • Step 4: Season with salt and pepper.
  • -I like to use seasoning salt as well as regular salt for more flavor.
  • -Taste as you go and add more salt and pepper as needed.
  • Step 5: Simmer until the gravy is thick and serve!

Notes

Tip 1: If you know you need to make a lot of gravy, just double or triple the water+flour mixture and adjust seasoning to taste.

Tip 2: If you are running low on gravy (it’s almost gone but you know people are going to want more) take what gravy you have left, simmer it and add another batch of flour+water mixture. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Tip 3: If gravy has gone too thick, whisk in a little bit of water over low heat until it reaches your preferred consistency.

Tip 4: If gravy is too thin, mix up some more flour+water mixture with less water than the first time: 2 tbsp flour + 1/2 cup water.
